petek157 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I have a long roof line that has 380 pixels consisting of 3 DMX universes (150px, 150px & 80px). I was wondering if there is a way to get them into SS that would allow me to run a morph from one end to the other without having to make 3 separate morphs? Ive been able to import a visualization somewhat effectively but the issue that Im having is that due to the fact that the universes are different lengths a 1 sec morph on the 80px section travels faster because its shorter. It would be nice to do it in a way that I could left click px1 and right click px380 and have the morph travel the whole line. Any thoughts on this? Thanks
BrianBruderer Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Yes, that would be a good feature. One to consider next year. Currently the best you can do is to set the sequencing grid "Max Length" to the length of your combined ribbons. But the maximum value for "max length" is 360 so it doesn't quite cover what you want to do.
RickeyS Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Ok, I'm looking to do the same thing I have my roof line 2 strings of 55 pixels and 2 strings of 81 pixels for a total of 272 pixels, how do I do set it up to program them as one string? I'm new and just starting to use SuperStar (I have 40 CCR level) so will need you to really walk me through this. I bought most of my sequences for a 16 x 50 tree but want to add something to my roofline other than just turn them on off. Thanks,Rick
saxon Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 If you separate your roof line just enough from your other elements, you could use VISEffects to create a pretty constant morph speed assuming there are not many peaks. 1
BrianBruderer Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Put all the strings that you want on the continuous roofline into one Prop. Click on the "superstar" button in the prop and tell it that it is NOT a matrix. Then when you import the visualization, set the sequencing grid "Max Length" to the number of pixels on your roofline so that the sequencing grid can put them on one line. In your case you would set it to 272.
petek157 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Im still working on the 380px line, but Im also a little confused on why I have two sets of pixel grids showing up when importing a visualization pair?
BrianBruderer Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 If you have "wrap around mode" selected then you will have two sets of grids. This is to allow spirals on a 360 degree tree. If you are not sequencing a 360 degree tree then import the visualization again and unselect "wrap around mode" 1
petek157 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 OK, continuing to play with this, I checked a box in the morph Setup that says VisEffect. This is SUPER close to what Im looking to do. But what seems to be happening is that when I draw the morph line because the pixels are not perfect in the visualization that it only uses the pixels that are hit by the morph line. Are there any tricks to either drawing the morph line "fatter" so it hits all of the lights or a way to draw the prop on the visualizer better so that a morph line can hit all in one swipe? Keep in mind that this prop is multiple universes long. Thanks again
BrianBruderer Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 You can increase the head size of the morph, change it to 20 or 30 or more. Or you can leave the head size at 0 or 1 and set the tail "Time Length" of at lease .20 seconds you should see the morph. The longer the tail time length the longer the tail will be behind the morph. Have the morph start at one end of the display and end at the other end and it should hit every light in the display. If your visualization on the superstar screen is real small, try clicking on the View menu and selecting "Floating Windows" and then you can resize the visualization. There is also a checkbox in the morph dialog box "shrink visualization" or not. The reason to shrink it is so you can do morphs diagonally. But otherwise you can uncheck the shrink option and it will be bigger.
petek157 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 May have figured it out "a little". By drawing 1a 1b and 2a 2b over the vis line makes it grab all of it. Confirm if this is the best way please. THanks
BrianBruderer Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 If you want it to go all the way across your visualization, yes that is what you want to do. Or you can have the morph start in the middle and go the the end. Do two of them going opposite directions and it is like a curtain opening. There are many things you can do with it.
saxon Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Just to butt in a min..... When I first found vis effects I thought weak, then I leaned how to use it. It is an AWESOME tool that can do so much more than morphs! Open curtain, close curtain, bounce a morph in your display, make spot light effect or a shadow effect, and I recently did a whole house fan effect that WOWs everyone including myself. And much more. I cant brag enough on the vis effect tool, great job Brian!
