More channels=smoother spirals?

Hello everyone, need input please. Has anyone done a single color spiral tree with more than 16 channels? 16 seems to be the norm. Im doing a 16ft spiral tree and was going to use 24 channels, seems it would look smoother. Any advice, comments, or even videos if done it would be appreciated.

Edit+ would the look/function of 24 channels be much difference from on 16 channels?

I did a 32 strand spiral 8 strands of red, green, blue and white. Looked good when I spiraled one color. Better when all 32. So 16 should look good. I will try to post a video later.
