5mm or M5

What is your opinion on which LED lights are best, the 5mm or the M5 LED?  I assume both are available as  full wave rectified.

My favorite is the M5s I think they are just nicer looking in my opinion.

One test is how well a string of 100 incans, 100 5mm LEDs, and 100 M5 LEDs, of the same color, look to the viewers in their cars passing by my house.  I will construct some type of simple night time (or dark room) test to determine which looks best.  The test:  just asking a few friends for their opinion.  Not sure if there's already been some measure of how well each light type looks from the street (brightness, color).  Will save a some money down the road from not having to switch light types later.
