beckntrav
I'm looking for ideas to build an outdoor switch/bridge. I'm adding (4) Pixcon16 controllers to my (6) ctb16pc controllers. I am switching to an E1.31 network. Any thoughts or pictures are appreciated.
beckntrav
To close my own post, I am using (2) 8 port switches in a weatherproof cover. These are old 10/100 switches. After my first stress test, they appear to work very well.
dgrant
I use or was using a wireless bridge to wireless router. Last year, for one E1.31 controller, it worked just fine except for once when someone in a car was trying to hack into it....slowed it down till the cars in question were gone. This year, its (3) E1.31 controllers and I quickly saw just the controller's webpages, weren't loading fast and actually, very slow or not at all. I removed the bridge and router from operation and ran a direct cable and now they load near instantly. The wireless was a "N" type at 300MB/sec. and I would have thought that would have been plenty fast but possibly there was interference on that frequency or something. Setting up now for a permanent wired connection from the inside switch to a new outside switch which will be mounted in a weatherproof enclosure.
