I need a 5m WS2811 strip with 50 LEDs total. Does 30 leds/m mean individual single color LEDs , which would be 10 5050 RGB leds, or does it mean 30 5050 RGB leds, which would mean 90 single colour LEDs inside those.

Hi,

this strip you linked has 30 LEDs per meter, witch means it has a total of 150 leds each pixel on this strip has 3 5050 LEDs the strip has a total of 50 pixels total meaning a 150 channels.

30 5050 LEDS PER METER!!!

Hopefully this helps.

I'm still confused.

You say it hAs 150 channels, which would be 50 pixels on the string, but then you say that it has 30 5050 leds per meter, which would be 150 5050 leds.

I made you a little you a little diagram to help:

Screen Shot 2015-09-27 at 9.53.51 AM.png

Careful with this Image, these are not the same type of pixel strip from the link. These ones on your screen shot are 3 led per integrated chip. The ones from the link have a chip under each led.

So there are 50 RGB lights, each can be controlled individually?

No. There are 30 individual RGB lights per meter.

Strip is 5M

150 5050s per strip (3 led X 50 pixels)

50 Pixels per strip

150 channels per strip

Per Meter

30 5050s per meter (3 led X 10 pixels)

10 Pixles per meter

30 channels per meter

If my math is working right :)

Thanks,

Steven G
