COMM Ports/ USB ports

I have a new computer with 8 USB ports.  Im using the HU to find the comm ports.  ALL the USB ports are coming up with COMM 4- shouldnt they each be a separate one?  I have 4 networks Im going to be running- so I guess Im at a loss- someone help please!  Oh and Im running Win 7- thanks guys

Be sure to connect them to to the same port each time if you disconnect for any reason. Also, in Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, the OS has the ability to turn off USB ports not being used for some length of time. I don't know what the time factor is. You can tell the OS not to turn them off. Its in the "Power" advanced, usb settings.

open control panel

open Hardware and Sound

Under Devices and Printers, click Device Manager

In Device Manager scroll to find Universal Serial Bus controllers

You can then right click on any of the listed USB and select properties

Once in Properties, click on Power Management tab 

You have the option to click on or off by selecting box to  "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
