godman
I have seen many pics here and on other forums and although soldering the wires is the best option I have also seen many people choosing to crimp their wires. What are the drawbacks of crimping beside connections working themselves loose?
k6ccc
If a crimp is done right, it won't work loose. The problem is that often the crimps are not done properly. The right tool makes a world of difference. At work we use crimps for 500 amp connections on a somewhat regular basis. The biggest disadvantages of soldering a connection is that you have to have a good mechanical connection before you solder, and for connections that will flex (think vehicle installations in particular), solder will wick up the wire and at the end of the solder, the wire will eventually break. JHolmes
Can you recommend crimping materials and tools that would work?

sticks4legs
Not sure where you call home but from my experience crimping (unless done well) does not like hot/cold temperature cycles. It has given me grief up here in Canada
