Lighting plastic pumpkins

I took a break this month from programming for next year. Well the breaks over and I'm starting to plan 2014.

After halloween I picked up around 30 plastic pumpkins to make an arch. I have zip cord, sockets plugs etc. my question is, when I put the c9 socket on the end of the cord what do you recommend terminating the end with? I'll have a male plug on the opposite end. It will basically be two wires on the socket side where I cut the wire. Is there a better solution than electrical tape?
