namecipS Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I'm new to the LOR family. Can someone help me understand the Amp limits for my 16 channel controller? I'm using all LED lights. Mostly Lowes/Home Depot purchased C5(50 ct), C6(210 ct) and C9's(100 ct). I have 7 of the C6's that I'm using to build a "mega" tree(at least it's my version/first attempt at a mega tree) Can I ruin my controller by trying to attach to many light strings?
shfr26 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Depending on what type of controller, normally it is max of 8 amps per channel, total of 15 amps per side, 1-8 and 9-16, and a max of 30 amps per controller. Using LED lights you should have no problems.
Mr. P Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 With what you have listed using all LED's you are nowhere near the limit. There are several ways to tell how many amps you are pulling: 1) Add up all the watts from each string and divide by 110. 2) Get one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-Kill-A-Watt-Electricity-Monitor-P4400/202196386
EARLE W. TALLEY Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 If using all Leds, for example, I have a Mega tree with only 4630 C6 Leds and it only pulls 2.53 amps as per the Kill-A-WATT. This item is almost a MUST HAVE in this hobby.
