export/import channels

I am using 2.9.4.....I am going form 48 to 64 channels in my sequences.  I have set up a new 64 channel configuration in one sequence.  I then exported it to a file folder, when I import that new channel configuration  to another sequence, the channels import, however the in the new 16 channels it fills certain rows in the new 16 channels and clears some rows in my CCR, which are the bottom rows of my sequence.  What am I doing wrong?  Why is it filling in certain rows in my new channels and changing some of my CCR rows?

Thanks

If you added 16 channels to a sequence and do what you described, you needed to have added those 16 to the BOTTOM of the sequence. When you import the channels it will import all 64 that you exported but -in the sequence you imported it into- the first 48 rows of commands will stay the same regardless of the new channel names. It simply fills from the top.

This can be frustrating as the 16 channels you add to the bottom will most likely break up the logic of your layout and make sequencing difficult. The answer, though, is simple.... TRACKS.

Make your first track called MASTER. Over the years, as you add channels you add them to the bottom of track #1 MASTER and then you won't have any export/import issues. Then copy your channels to tracks. Hide or ignore the master track #1 and sequence from the tracks below 2-?. Tracks also make sequencing different display elements easier. For example I have a seperate track for my mega tree, one for my mini trees, etc.
