bizket666 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 i have been trying to cut and solder a wire joint between my pixle strips but wher i have solderd themthey are 5m long i have split them ant 3.5m to solder a bend in when i solderd them back together they just stay on constant and wont turn of i mean the last 1.5m of the stripcould i be soldering too hot?
Ken Benedict Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Check your solder joints; it seems that one is touching the +V line and is staying on. Ideally, you should be using a 15 watt iron for those small copper pads.
bizket666 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 i have found the problem was the voltage i have fitted a 10 m extention to them it just lights whitewhen i cut the wire to 4/5m it works fine what am i doing wrong how can i solve this is it some thing to do with power injection?
Ken Benedict Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 With a few more details, your problem can be solved. You talked about soldering a bend in them, then described it as a 30 foot extension. How many conductors in the extension wire? Where does it stop working? No, power injection looks different.
bizket666 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 hi iv solved the lighting problam with the bends the problem is if i conect a wire from the pixles to the controller more than 5m long the lights just stay white
plasmadrive Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I assume that means you are using 2811 flex strips and not dumb RGB strips.. true?
Max-Paul Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 What size is the extension wire? What gauge is the wire?
