marsh28 Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I've been hunting for DMX controlled PAR lights to use in the windows of my home. The cheapo Chauvet lights are over 100 bucks a pop and I've heard they don't work well. However, I did find lights from a reputable vendor on Ali Express that are less that 50 bucks each WITH shipping. I've attached a link to the website listing for this light if other's are interested. As you can see, they're VERY powerful considering the price. This vendor is great with response time and people over on the AUSchristmaslight forums have had success with them in the past. http://mslighting.en.alibaba.com/product/380423158-209762352/7_3IN1_RGB_LED_Plat_Par_LED_Stage_Light.html
Ken Benedict Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I bought that same type of light and they were great to use in a dark area. About 21 watts each. Then I bought Blizzard's 120 watt version and the brightness is amazing; you only need a couple of these babies to light your whole front yard. Then I sold the 21 watt versions. Since then I found a China vendor that sells a 160 watt version for about $150 each, but only has a 25 degree beam.Easily light up your yard from 75 feet away. Yes, they are certainly fun.

Ken Benedict Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Was yours waterproof I take it? Could you put up a link? Thanks!! NOT waterproof, but neither was the one you had a link to. You either cover them well or take them down every night or when bad weather comes. Weatherproof lights are 3-5 times more expensive than non-waterproof ones (of the same type). The 160 watt LED lights: http://yilonglight.en.alibaba.com/product/722393001-214174721/2013_newly_16_10w_rgbw_cheap_effect_lighting.html?edm_src=sys&edm_type=fdbk&edm_grp=0&edm_cta=read_msg&edm_time=realtime&edm_ver=e Edited July 4, 2013 by Ken Benedict
kiplorenzo Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) You might want to look at Ray's Store, There is a DMX Controlled RGB Floodlight that is waterproof for around 49.00. They have the 10w version and a 30 w. You can also build waterproof type washes for under 40.00 ea. The RGB Dumb Strings are about 20 on ebay/Amazon. Then just a sheet of siding from Home Depot, a couple of boards and a sheet of inexpensive glass or Plexiglass and some caulkingIt is all DIY, but cost reduction are good and you control how many pixels per unit. Here's the link to What I found. 10W-12V: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/10W-RGB-DMX-flood-light-DC12V-input/701799_550394253.html30W-24V http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/30W-RGB-DMX-flood-light-DC24V-input-can-be-controlled-by-dmx-controller-directly/701799_577673325.html60W Standard AC- http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/60W-RGB-DMX-flood-light-AC90-260V-input-can-be-controlled-by-dmx-controller-directly/701799_580471816.html Edited July 6, 2013 by kiplorenzo
