How to clip lights to shingles

With only 254 days to go until light up, I'm looking for suggestions on how to clip lights to roof shingles.

What do you do?

+1 on the binder clips.  I've used them on roof heat tapes for years. 144 for $16.49 at Staples.

That's a great price too.

These things hold up great in high winds. They survived a blizzard here in 2009. Didn't have to remount/rehang a single strand. I was impressed.

I have been looking for something better than roof/shingle clips myself. Thanks for the idea on the binder clips. I found a better deal too: $9.89 for 144 with free shipping. Can get 288 for the price at staples after you throw in tax in store or online.

One thing I noticed with these binder clips, they hold up light strands on shingles during high winds and such but when it's time to take them down, they come off quickly and sometimes if I don't want to tote the ladder every 5 feet, I pull on the light strand and they slip off without harming the strands or shingles. I usually go this route to save from moving the ladder around so much or if there is ice/snow on the ground.

But again, they hold up very nice in Oklahoma winds.
