TheJackal
I'm new to the forum and intend on jumping into LOR next year. How bright are 5mm LED lights in comparison to Walmart commercial lights?
jeffl
5mm or m5? I didn't know that Walmart had commercial grade lights.

Tim Fischer
They're kind of different beasts. If you want LED's that look the most like the first link, you want M5's. The 5mm are brighter, but much more directional than M5s.I tend to prefer the M5's myself.

jeffl
Unless I'm missing something this is comparing and LED to a mini. The LED will be brighter. The mini will have other advantages. Also the LED that has the shape of a mini is an M5.I would suggest you check out the pre order sales going on now. In the LED section you should find posts from 3 venders. HLE, CDI and MITTS. If you want incandescent minis then it might be another story.Try here.http://www.holiday-light-express.com/This is where I get mineI have some from there as well. Great product. scubado
Way too much money for the minis you posted. Minis fade or chip color coating and good for maybe 2-3 yrs. I have the 5mm leds and are my least favorite type of led. I've been buying C3 or similar in size. Mine are also 1/2 wave leds. From the online vendors mentioned, you'll be getting commercial grade sealed full wave leds that'll kick butt in brightness.
