ACL is up and hasnt had any issues.

I wonder if your issues are caused by the aftermath of hurricane Sandy and if the ABC server is down because of that

Maybe, anyways we cant reach the server so tonights tutorial is cancelled, sorry.

next time i will ping the infrastructure ahead of time.

Tonight's tutorial was on how to create single strand effects for odd shaped targets. I discussed how I created effects for the 400' of spider web and the 8' spider my sons built for Halloween.

Tutorial goes through

1) make a 16 segment single strand target

2) create effects for the 16 segments

3) use audacity to mark phrases

4) create a song using the audacity labels file

5) create a project using the song and the target

6) running project

7) loading finished song into Vixen

Tutorial is located here.

Sean you mentioned before that you were going to cover the bug status. As you know I'm especially interested in the status of the spiral effect bugs. Was that covered in the video? If so, I'll watch it. If not, I don't use single strand effects (yet, anyway) so I think I'll use the time for setup and sequencing :) But that spider is pretty darned awesome...

Thanks!

Hi Tim, started working the spiral bug yesterday. There are three actually

1) first pixel of first string is not correct, missing a color. It is only one pixel of the entire tree, but still not right.

2) first strand of a spiral is shifted by 8 pixels. This is what causes the biggest issue. this causes a very noticeable jump at the end of each cycle

3) If you create a 180 degree tree, it is outputting junk for the other 180 degrees that should be blank.

i am working on all 3.

i hope they are fixed today or tomorrow.

BTW., I am using Vixen, LOR and HLS to load the effects. I find that LOR is the clearest to see the data and the lms load of my 2000 channels is almost instantaneous.

so LOR is my debug platform now for testing effects. Vixen is my platform for actually sending out the data (Lynx etherdongle, Lynx smart hub (6144 channels of RGB + 256 channels of DMX).

for christmas i will have 20x120 megatree and 16x128 eaves, arches, windows, These 4448 pixels or 13,344 channels will require i daisy chain two of the smart hubs together.

Has anyone have experience with the etherdongle and LOR? The LOR software I have is 3.4.0.

thanks

Thanks for the update, Sean. Did you see my thread over on DIYC called "A Different(?) spiral bug" (in the Nutcracker forum? I was just curious if that bug was one of the three mentioned above, or if it's something else. There are details in the first post about the model and effect I was using.

Sorry, no experience with the etherdongle - I'm using the iDMX and the E681-6.

Sounds good. Hopefully they're all pretty simple to fix.

Once you get the three above fixed, I'm going to resume sequencing again and I'll let you know what I find out.
