RaceMedic Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Good morning everyone ....I started pulling out my C6 LED 100ct strings from CDI the other day and I have noticed that one of the male plugs is not functioning properly. If I wiggle the wires going into the the plug the lights will come on.Question ... am able to simply cut the plug off and replace it ?!My concern is knowing which wire goes where and what type of replacement plug to use.Thank-you for your time !Dave
Crazydave Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 if you have a multi meter you can strip some of the insulation of one of the wires close to the plug to "ohm out" to see which one is which
Tim Fischer Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 If the CDI strings are like mine (I haven't bought from there in a couple of years) you should just be able to replace the plug with any old plug. The LED electronics are in the "blobs" further down the string.
EARLE W. TALLEY Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Open the plug up and re seat the fuses.
Dennis Cherry Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 First item I would try is open the fuse compartment and check to see if the fuses are seated properly. This happens in production where they get in a hurry and just lay the fuse in. I have had this problem new out of the box, now I check all fuses.
Max-Paul Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 +3 to post #4 & 5.Have seen times that those fuses are not fully seated and that they act like your string. Otherwise I agree with Tim and just cut it off and add a standard 115VAC plug.
Tim Fischer Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Yeah good call on the fuses, guys. I've seen that also.
RaceMedic Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Plug cut off and replaced .. working like a charm ... Thank-you everyone !Dave
