Guest guest
I've been reading up & did a searchFrom what I have read:The connection from the PC ot the 1st controller (if long) should be CAT5eIf the connections after that are short phone cable can be usedI only have about 40' from where the PC will be to the streetThe Mega tree will be around 30-35' awayI have quite a few CAT5 patch cables so will use those between controllers on the Mega treeWhat does everyone use?Any problems with using a mix?I was originally thinking of having my controllers in the garageBut that will involve a LOT of extension cords to the Mega treeNow I'm planning on a secure, lockable, weighted control box in the middle of the treeThen some controllers in the basement near the front corner of the house for the driveway & front area

Make a box for all the controllers.2. Finish the box to look like a present and add several more around it.3. Drive several rods in the ground at different angles then secure the box to the rods and your center support pole. All this will make it harder to get but like my dad always said a lock or anything you do to secure something will only keep the honest person out.I only use cat-5 cable. Buy it in bulk and cut to length. When you do make you own cables, strip the outer cover back more than what you need. Doing this will allow you to lay out the wires in the proper order easier and then cut the wires to the proper length with the crimping tool. If I remember I picked up a cable tool and ends for under 20 dollars at Frys.Anthony
Guest guest
I like the idea for decoration as a present, plus adding moreI think I will pour concrete with a rodThe box will set down over the concrete/rodThen from inside the box a plate will lock the box downCan't hurt
