Controlling Individual Lights On A String Of Lights

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if its possible to control each individual light on a single string of lights. Say you have 50 lights on the string, you could say "I want light 3 to turn on first, then light 15, then light 8 and 30 together..." I understand that if they are in series you can't do it, but what if they're in parallel? Is there any way to do it? Has anyone done it before?

Thank you.

Even if the lights are in parallel, you still need something to tell each light when to go on/off. Think about a string of incandescent lights for a moment. If they were in parallel, how would you tell each light when to go on/off? Well, the most basic way would be 50 plugs. Not practical. (There may be other ways you could do it, but ....)

This is where the RGB Pixel/Bulbs, that Rick mentioned, come into play. They both come with a controller that lets you control each bulb, individually, on the string. At that point you'd be able to light the string up in the scenario you posted.

FYI - The Pixels/Bulbs are not yet for sale in the LOR store. Hopefully they will be out soon.

Can't edit (too late).

I've give the links to part 1 of 2 of the tutorials but look at all of them.
