benjaminpalko
Can I run LOR from a laptop? If so can I just run a ethernet cable from the laptop to the LOR box?
dslowik
1) yes2) no. LOR uses CAT5 cable, but not Ethernet. The CAT5 has to plug into an RS485 conversion box.
benjaminpalko
So the cat5 plugs into the laptop to the conversion box. What do I need to plug the conversion box into the LOR? How do I connect my two LOR's together?
texascop
There is a cable that plugs into the USB port of the laptop. You buy it from LOR. The other end has an RJ-45 jack. You plug a Cat-5 cable into that plug and the other end of the Cat-5 goes in one of the RJ-45 plugs on your first controller. You then run another Cat-5 cable from the second RJ-45 plug on the first controller to one of the RJ-45 plugs on the second controller.
Bcspy
One end of cat5 to usb485 adapter, usb485 usb plug into laptop. The other end of cat5 plug goes to the 1st controller, then daisy chain another cat5 to other controllers.
