PMesritz
I'm running a Windows 7 laptop runing 64-bit with 16 GB of RAM, 100+ free GB of HD space. The processor is Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz and the graphics card is NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M. Each time that I start the Windows Visualizer from Start > All Programs, it immediately crashes with the following details.Any thoughts or suggestions?Problem signature:Problem Event Name: APPCRASHApplication Name: LORVisualizer.exeApplication Version: 3.0.0.0Application Timestamp: 4e970c25Fault Module Name: ole32.dllFault Module Version: 6.1.7601.17514Fault Module Timestamp: 4ce7b96fException Code: c0000005Exception Offset: 0004a1f0OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4Locale ID: 1033Additional Information 1: 507fAdditional Information 2: 507fd8b5552b0aa8de623643afd07fa3Additional Information 3: bf36Additional Information 4: bf36b4708304f8cb657ffd822fefdac2Read our privacy statement online:http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline:C:Windowssystem32en-USerofflps.txt
LOR Staff
Ensure that you have run Windows Update and updated windows. If that doesn't fix it, then try uninstalling and re-installing S3.
PMesritz
DevMike, Thanks for your response. Windows is fully updated (it's a corporate laptop) and I've uninstalled/reinstalled S3 already. Any other suggestions/thoughts?- Philippe
LOR Staff
Take a look in your visualizer system directory (mydocuments/light-o-rama/visualizations/system) and see if there is a file called 'errorlog.txt'. If so, attach it please.
PMesritz
The folder appears to be empty. I run mine off of an external drive, so it's actually G:Light-O-RamaVisualizationssystem.I also checked under my mydocuments folder but there's no light-o-rama folders there
LOR Staff
I'm at a loss then. I double checked, and that is the most current version of that DLL. I also fired up the latest version on my x64 Win 7 test machine and it comes right up.I'm going to ask Bob what he thinks. How comfortable would you be if I created a special version of the Visualizer and had you copy it into the correct place?
PMesritz
I would be happy to try that.
Jim Saul
Are you a local administrator on the computer?try right click and run as administrator?2 other thoughts1) the corporate domain is using group policies that are interfering with it?2) Somewhere in the visualizer code there is a reference to the C drive? PMesritz
I'm a local admin, yeah. Tried it as run as admin as well as compatibility mode XP.Corporate domain shouldn't be affecting it as I'm not running it on the network and the policies are usually disabled here when not active. Can't speak to #2. PMesritz
I downloaded the new upgrade to LOR (3.1.0) and it appears to have resolved the problem. Thanks to DevMike for letting me know it was coming!
LOR Staff
Now isn't that WEIRD? I didn't do ANYTHING different, and the program was compiled and linked the same way it always is. Yet, this version worked and the one before didn't.....I LOVE programming on Windows!
