Immediate Crash When Starting

Recommended Posts

I'm running a Windows 7 laptop runing 64-bit with 16 GB of RAM, 100+ free GB of HD space. The processor is Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz and the graphics card is NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M. Each time that I start the Windows Visualizer from Start > All Programs, it immediately crashes with the following details.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Take a look in your visualizer system directory (mydocuments/light-o-rama/visualizations/system) and see if there is a file called 'errorlog.txt'. If so, attach it please.

The folder appears to be empty. I run mine off of an external drive, so it's actually G:Light-O-RamaVisualizationssystem.

I also checked under my mydocuments folder but there's no light-o-rama folders there

I'm at a loss then. I double checked, and that is the most current version of that DLL. I also fired up the latest version on my x64 Win 7 test machine and it comes right up.

I'm going to ask Bob what he thinks. How comfortable would you be if I created a special version of the Visualizer and had you copy it into the correct place?

Are you a local administrator on the computer?
try right click and run as administrator?

2 other thoughts
1) the corporate domain is using group policies that are interfering with it?

2) Somewhere in the visualizer code there is a reference to the C drive?

I'm a local admin, yeah. Tried it as run as admin as well as compatibility mode XP.

Corporate domain shouldn't be affecting it as I'm not running it on the network and the policies are usually disabled here when not active.

Can't speak to #2.

Now isn't that WEIRD? I didn't do ANYTHING different, and the program was compiled and linked the same way it always is. Yet, this version worked and the one before didn't.....

I LOVE programming on Windows! :P
