LOR occasionally stops working under Windows 7

Hi Folks,

just recently I have been running into a situation where LOR sequence editor crashes and displays a message indicating that LOR has "stopped working" and windows is searching for a solution. Of course it doesn't find one and I have to restart LOR. Has anyone else run into this issue?
This is the only program that has displayed this error and LOR has run for years on my XP and vista machines.

LOR: 2.9.4, Custom 12 core Intel machine with 12 GB RAM, W7 professional, NVIDIA G450 card.

Thanx for any help or pointers!!!

Hello Tom,

Thanx for responding. I deleted and reinstalled LOR, but ran into the same issue. For anyone more computer savvy than I, I have atached the event log dump. I get the same exception code each time (it seems).

This may not be helpful, but on my I5, Windows 7, which was running 2.9.4, The sequence editor would crash from lack of available memory. When I open gmail and facebook together, they have a tendency to take 500K+ memory, causing the sequence editor to crash.

I did a search on microsoft using the exception code and they say;

"In many cases this error has been generated by faulty RAM memory."

They also say that "not having the most current graphics device driver can cause the fault".

Then they go on to say that it could be poor coding in the software.

I run 3.02 on W7 and have not experienced the error. So either I've been lucky, or it's not a software problem. I have no idea which it is.

Good luck

Bruce

Hi Jerry,
Sorry I did not get back to you last night, but I was away from my computer. The only difference I can see is that you are using an NVIDIA and I am using an ATI video card. But I'm no expert.

Bruce,

thanx so much for researching this. I will check the graphics driver as sugested by another poster. I was running 2.9.4 LOR but I have the license for 3.0x and was waiting until I had finished sequencing for the show. Perhaps I'll take the plunge and go to 3.0 and see if that helps.

Well Folks,

Here is the latest on this. I did update the graphics driver for my GTX 570 card and it had no beneficial effect. Note: Microsoft device manager said I had the latest driver, but upon checking at the NVDIA website, I found this to not be the case, Caveat Emptor! Next I did a hardware diagnostic on my machine esp. the memory array. Again no problems. I also uninstalled LOR (2.9.4) and reinstalled it, also to no avail. Finally, I decied to upgrade to 3.02. So far all is working well with no crashes. If things change I'll post more, but it looks like 3.02 is more W7 friendly.
