cutting rope light

I need to cut a peice of rope light at 20 foot 3 inches last I knew all rope lights had to be cut at 18 inches is that still the way it is or can I cut them closer.The color is green if that makes a diffrentce.

The specific rope light should have cut lines on them. It might be faint, but there should be cut lines, and you only want to cut at those lines.

LED size is different than incandescent, it depends on your rope light.
