I just ordered one of these so I don't know how well it works yet, bit for $20 I figured I'd try it and figured that others here may find it useful and or depressing :(
From the description, it seems like it works like the kilawatt for your house. It reads the from the port that the meeter reader uses and gives you real time usage info.

That is pretty cool, I just bought a Kila-Watt EZ tracker. I am using mine to read the amperage draw from the LOR controller. I think it will also be useful to know what each channel is drawing going into the controller.

It also has many other features that calculate the money we all spend with this "hobby"

I don't need anything extra to tell me how much money I spend on this "Hobby". My wife performs that function quite well. Just wish I could unplug her sometimes tho.

ROFL I'm right there with you Jim, must be something to do with the name Jim.

I'm hoping that this is going to show her how much the projection TV and surround sound uses all year long so that the 1 month of Christmas looks better. That TV puts out so much heat you could roast marshmallows over the exhaust vent.

I have a watt meter from Harbor Freight and I love it. Use it around the house all the time to see how much power stuff draws. I'm always amazed at how somethings take no power when turned off and others pull quite a bit. I moved some TVs and printers to power strips so I could really turn them off and it helped a bunch.

For Christmas lights I like to be able to quote how many amps and watts I'm using. Also to make sure that I'm not overloading any one circuit. I'm on LED's so it's mostly just for my personal curiosity.
