Guest guest
I'm hoping Bob or Dan from Light-O-Rama will answer this one, mainly because I am trying to understand something about the beat wizard when using it.I've had a person try and explain some of this, but I need to know a bit more and figure the folks that created the software would be the best ones to get the answers to some of my questions about this.Basically my questions are these (for DAN or BOB from LOR please):When I select a FIXED timing grid in the Beat Wizard, does the Beat Wiard actually use this timing grid I set, or does it use a different grid size when it is creating the beats in a channel or track?Does it revert to a freeform grid? If so, why? That is, what exactly is the Beat Wizard doing when you tell it to select a FIXED timing grid, of say 0.15, is this what it actually uses? If not, why?And if it doesn't use the timing grid you select, then why is there an option available in the beat wizard to select or set timing options? Why even have the code in place in the software if the Beat Wizard really doesn't use the end user settings they have entered? Thanks for your time and answers. bob
There are essentially two things that the Beat Wizard can do:(1) Insert timings into a timing grid;(2) Insert effects into channels. It can only do the first if you select a freeform grid; if you use a fixed grid, the "insert timings into a timing grid" checkbox will be greyed out.For the second, it inserts effects where it thinks they should be - i.e. on the beat - without paying attention to the timing grid, UNLESS you also check the "Snap effects to timings within (xxx) hundredths of a second" checkbox. So, for example, if you're using a fixed grid with timings every tenth of a second (0.10, 0.20, 0.30, etc.), and the Beat Wizard thinks that a beat occurs at time 0.13, and you tell it to insert effects into a channel, then:(1) If you don't have the "Snap effects" box checked, it will insert the effect at time 0.13, since you're not asking it to pay attention to the timing grid when it inserts effects.(2) If you have the "Snap effects" box checked, and you set it up to snap to effects within 3 hundredths of a second (or more), then it will insert the effect at time 0.10, since you're asking it to snap effects to timings AND there is a timing that is "close enough".(3) If you have the "Snap effects" box checked, and you set it up to snap to effects within 2 hundredths of a second (or less), then it will insert the effect at time 0.13, since you're asking it to snap effects to timings BUT there is no timing that is "close enough". Guest guest
Thanks Bob.Just learned some more new things on how the Beat Wizard works I didn't know. I've used the "snap effects" before, but had no idea what it actually did or how it worked.Again, thanks for the explaination.
