How long of a run for phone cable?

How long of a run can I use with phone cable? I have a controller for my backyard that I want to use, but it's probably 200+ feet back to there. Can I use phone cable for a 200 - 250' connection to the last box in my daisy chain?

If you are away from power, and other noise sources, you are likely ok. If you have issues, the fallback is cat5.
