New to LOR - 1st year setup

Hi All,

This is my first post :)

I just bought 2 16 channel LOR controllers and was hoping for some help with how I should set up my lights.

What I have and What I'm planning:

8 Mini trees - Unwraped at the moment

4 Leaping arches - Material bought, buinking them after halloween.

House Trim lights

My thoughts on set up:

16 channels - mini trees 2 channels / tree

14 channels - 7 channels / arch (2 pairs as 1 and 3 tied together, 2 and 4 tied together)

2 Channels House trim (1 channel blue, 1 channel white)

Questions:

1) would I be better to go with 4 - 4 channel minis or 16 1 channel ?

2) everything I see uses 8 channels/arch will 7 look off?

3) any sugestions?

Thanks in advance

Rich

Welcome to the madness!
Many use 7ch arches, so you will be fine. I am planning 7ch arches myself this year, and they look fine. I prefer the odd number of channels, so you have a channel directly at the top of the arch.

I suggest you read here about arch sleeves--it will make things much easier.

Buy lots of extension cords (or many feet of SPT cord).

Do lots of reading, ask lots of questions, contribute to threads where you can, and have fun!

I am using 8 channels per arch and 2 chsnnels per mini tee some are green/white some are red/blue. go to my website and check out videos. if you want i can send you a copy of a sequence of your choice to help you get started.
Good luck

I'd stick with the two-color mini trees only because there's more of them that way. You can always expand to more colors when you have more channels to work with.

I also think 7 segments makes a superior arch compared to six or eight segments. Mine are 7-segment models and I like having a single center segment to work with. I've done sequencing for others - both six and eight segment arches - and not only were they a pain to program but they gave me fewer options/patterns to work with.

Excelent Idea, wraping the whole 10 length of pvc lookd more difficult, this way I can wrap them while I'm watching tv.

1,2,3 RBG, Clear on 16
4,7,10 Red, Clear on 16
5,8,11 Blue, Clear on 16
6,9,12 Green, Clear on 16
13,14,15 RGB, Clear on 16
