Splitting controller cat5 feeds

When using the MP3 director I have 3 open cat5 ports. Is it better to use all 3 outputs to split the other controllers into 3 groups or just run all the controllers serial off 1 cat5 output ?

I'm using 22 controllers if that makes a difference on the answer.

One or two wires ... Three is not advisable...

LOR uses RS485 and the RS485 spec recommends that there be only a single chain of devices. The LOR1602MP3 can be at the end of the chain (have a single wire connected to it) or in the "middle" of the chain and have two wires connect to it. If you add the third wire you will be outside the specification because you would have started a different network topology.
