1602W w/MP3 director vs diy

Is there any difference between a prefab 1602W w/MP3 director vs. adding a MP3 director card to a 1602W ?

Do I lose an ethernet port ?

I would like to start the display at this controller and have 2 cat5 cables running out in opposite directions to the other controllers.

No difference at all in that config. You'll still have two ethernet connectors available, one on the director (it has two) and one on the 1602 controller.
