I am having trouble with a particular show and I am not sure why. The show has 1 background sequence, 1 startup sequence, 1 musical sequence, and 1 shutdown sequence. This show is scheduled to play for 4 hours. The musical sequence is two minutes, and so every two minutes the startup and shutdown sequences are playing.



Here's what I expect to happen:

startup sequence
background / musical sequence
background / musical sequence
background / musical sequence
background / musical sequence
etc. until scheduled time ends
shutdown sequence



Here's what actually happens:
startup sequence
background / musical sequence
shutdown sequence
startup sequence
background / musical sequence
shutdown sequence
startup sequence
background / musical sequence
shutdown sequence
startup sequence
background / musical sequence
shutdown sequence
etc.

Help?


Note: I have other shows that the startup and shutdowns tabs work just fine. Is there a problem with only having one musical sequence in the show?? I can not figure out what I'm doing wrong.

It's very skiddish. This same show ran fine for two weeks before starting to have this problem recently. I fought with it for the two days and couldn't get it to work right. Today, I just tested it and it works fine -- although I upgraded to the latest version of LOR. I don't know if the problem is going to return or not.

This sounds like LOR is repeatedly restarting the show. I know it will poll the show file every few seconds to see if it has changed. It looks like it always thinks the file has changed.

This is just a wild guess, but maybe LOR is looking at the "modified" time on the show file and will restart the show if this time is later than when it last started the show. If this is the case, and if the modified time of the show file is in the future, then this behavior could happen.

Check the time/date of the show file and the time/date on your system.

Regarding the file modification time - we do check that, but we also go on to check whether or not the contents of the show have changed (e.g. points to a new sequence, or an old one removed). If the show hasn't changed, we don't (or at least shouldn't) stop/restart.

I'll play around with it this weekend and see if I can get it to happen again. I would feel silly sending you a file that is currently working (since I upgraded to 2.5.2.)

OK. In 2.5.2, though, there's a new feature: the status window displays info about what's going on with the show. If it happens again, could you please copy that info (there's a "Copy" button) and paste it into an email to me (bob@lightorama.com)? In addition to the sequence/show/schedule files, please. Thanks.

Here's the LOR log file. You can see the show end at 10:03pm and the closing show going crazy. Notice the highlighted section in blue where the musical sequence never even played! I'm crossing my fingers that Bob can reproduce the problem.

I found this very interesting post in the forums. Guess when my problem started happening? Yup, it was the Saturday show scheduled from 10pm-1am!

Here are some threads reporting similiar issues. The solutions were to:
1. Not run the show over midnight on Saturdays in the scheduler
2. Delete the two schedule files completely and start over


Perhaps there is a new bug in the scheduler that was introduced recently?
