I am getting this error on both my computers.
The hardware Utility picks up the controllers but when I try to enable the schedule I get the error.
Nothing is running except LOR.

Again this is happening on both my machines and the show machine ran last Christmas.

I did search the error before posting.
I am able to control the lights via the HU.
Device manager shows nothing wrong.
Everything worked last year.
I have tried 2 different USB adapters.
The error OPEN COMX is always one number higher than the com port that is assigned to the USB adapter.
The screen shot is the error I get when the USB adapter is on Com 6.

Did You check your network preferences in SE.

It should match your HU settings for each USB Dongle.

Sorry, it is the comm port number you need to verify in SE.

I don't know your computer abilities so please don't take this as an insult. On the two machines that are not working, are you sure that nothing else is using the comport that you are trying to use. For instance, is your HU closed before trying to enable your shows?

Not insulted.
I do work in the IT field.
The error is referncing one com port (assuming COMx is referncing a comport) higher than the com port that is assigned to the usb adapter.
For example the screen shot is where the USB adapter is com 6 (error COM7) when I add a second usb adapter the error will be COM8.

I was testing some used ribbons I got and was worried that they were faulty but they worked fine on the XP machine with a new install.

In the Sequence Editor have you verified the correct com port is selected?

Load SE, open a file, then go to Edit>NetWork Preferences. Check that only the one comm port is setup (Comm 6) and know others in the Regular network.

If you are setup for DMX only then make sure you do not have all the LOR Comm ports to "None".

Check also the DMX setting that the correct USB ID is selected for the USB Dongle you are using.

This should read:

I checked SE and it was missing AUX A or it was set to none.
I set the other 3 to none and changed the regular network to the current com port the usb com port.
No error.

Issue resolved!
