Changing from Pixel strips to nodes?

I am considering switching from strips to nodes on the house roof, windows, and doors.   Currently, the strips use 3 leds for 1 pixel.   This gives me a count of 28 pixels, 64 pixels, and 68 pixels along my roof.   What happens when I switch to nodes?   Do I still count 3 pixels as 1, or do I end up tripling the number of pixels, and resequencing for the new number?  I can't imagine that 64 pixels becomes 192 pixels?  I also can't imagine the spacing being as far as the length of 3 leds in a strip?  That would be a lot of empty space between.   I am thinking that I am overthinking this.  Shouldn't be complicated, nor should it a lot of work up dating sequences.  What am I missing?

The Pixel count will be to same - But the actual number of LED's will be less..

A 50 Pixel String w/4" spacing is 16.6 feet

Is 4" spacing the norm?  I'm thinking it won't look anywhere near as full?

Depends on the viewing distance. One disadvantage of nodes is that you can see each individual pixel whereas the strips look more of a line. The closer the nodes are to the viewer the more separated they look.

I personally do not like the "Line" look and prefer the "Bulb" look.. But to each his own... you can also mount the Pixels closer to each other, but the string is spaced 4" apart

I think so. 4" and 6" are what I see the most.  That is the WIRE length. I 12mm drill plastic plumbers tape on 3" centers and the nodes point straight. 4" spacing tilts the nodes as the wire is not precise coming out of the bullets. Node 1 to node 50 is 12.5'

But you can custom order (larger quantities) from places like Ray Wu

Bullets can be bright.you might want to buy a typical string and try it out, then decide if a custom order is needed

I use the 5050’s they are 3 - RGB nodes per section not separated like ribbons 1- R,G,B node each section.

Big advantage of pixels is that you can space them however you like.  As someone else mentioned, I much prefer the "bulbs" look over a "line" (which in my opinion is what I expect on a nightclub or casino).  My roofline bulbs are about 8 inch spacing and the eves are just over 7 inch spacing.  Looks very much like traditional C9 strings.  Currently using GE Color Effects bulbs which are slightly smaller than a C9 bulb.  I intend to replace them next year with bulbs that are about halfway between the size of C9 and V7 bulbs - same spacing.

Mine depend on the placement as my eaves and windows are ribbons for the more filled in look. my roofs and borders are the C9 pixel bulbs spaced 8-12 inches. My driveway arches are C9 bulbs spaced 4 inches apart.
