In S4, if you have an visualization of your display then you can click on the File menu in superstar and select "import visualization" and import the visualization.

In S5, you do the following:

1) create a Preview in the Sequencer

2) select any of the motion effect rows by doing a right click on the motion effect row and doing "select" then "row".

3) Right click on the selection and select "insert superstar effect" whereupon superstar will launch and the Preview of the Prop belonging to that motion effect will be in superstar.

4) You do your sequencing then shut down superstar by clicking on the red "X" in the upper right of the program.

5) A dialog box will appear asking if you want to save your data, answer "Yes" and the data automatically gets transferred to the Sequencer

6) Upon returning to the Sequencer it will automatically play the sequencing to that Prop while it is processing the data. After it finishes processing the data you can click on one of the "Play" buttons in the sequencer and it will play all of the sequencing.

Note that if you want to sequence all of your display in superstar then you make a group in your Preview and do "insert superstar effect" on the motion effect row for that group.

Some "gotchas" is that sometimes the Props will not automatically have a motion effect row. In that case you can right click on the Prop on the left side of the screen a menu should appear and the bottom option will be "add/modify motion effect row" Click on that option and in the dialog box that appears click on the "add" button.

Also, you can only have motion effect rows if you have the "Pro" license

Soooo, to answer your original question, in S5 in superstar you can still launch superstar "standalone" and the option to import a visualization in superstar is still there, but the Sequencer does not produce a visualization file and so there will be no visualization file to import. And when you launch superstar "standalone" a message box will appear advising you that launching superstar "standalone" is allowed but it is not the recommended usage.

There is a video tutorial that goes through making a Preview in S5 and sequencing it using superstar. Go to the lightorama main page, click on "Support" then click on "Tutorials and PDFs." When the page appears the first group will be labeled "Sequencer (ShowTime Sequencing Suite aka: S5)"  The 2nd, 3rd and 4th videos cover what I have described in this post. They are:

Sequencer (aka: S5) and Making a Preview for Smart Pixels
Sequencer (aka: S5) and Making a Preview for Traditional Lights
Sequencer (aka: S5) and Inserting SuperStar into a sequence
