basic controller issue

Im very new to this but I have the basic control with the USB 485 adapter... I followed the steps to conect my computer to the controller through the hardware utility menu.... at first everything went smooth it connected with the controller and was controlling my light... that only lasted for 2 minutes then out of nowhere it couldn't find my controller anymore although I didn't change anything... the led light in the box is on steady green which says it means the controller is connected to an active network... but for some reason now when I hit auto configuration it can't find my controller anymore
