Memory leak in shows

We have recently found a memory leak in the Show Player. The problem occurs not during a single show, but after a show is over: Some of the memory used to play that show is not released. So the show player will use more memory during the second show than it did during the first, more during the third than the second, and so on. Eventually, after enough shows (and depending on the size of your shows and sequences), this could cause strange things to start happening.

This affects releases 3.5.0, 3.6.0, 3.7.0 and 3.8.0. We intend to release bug fix versions for each of these (3.5.2, 3.6.2., 3.7.2, and 3.8.2), but in the meantime, here are some steps that you can take which may mitigate the problem:

(1) If you are not using compressed sequences, use them. This should reduce or perhaps eliminate the memory leak. You can use compressed sequences by right-clicking on the LOR Control Panel and checking the "Use Compressed Sequences" option from the popup menu that will open.

(2) In between shows, disable shows. Wait for the Show Player to stop (it may take a few moments, but not very long - you can see when it has stopped by watching the LOR Control Panel's status window). Then enable shows again. This will reclaim any memory that had been leaked during earlier shows.

We apologize for this problem.
