Terry Hurrle Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I have a short intro I want to start my show or shows with. I have already done the sequence I want to add the into to. Can I put the intro on a different track and have it start before the main sequence starts or is it easier to just do the intro as a sequence and add it to the show editor for each show?
Cray Augsburg Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Terry:Unless the intro is an integral (necessary) part of the sequence you're thinking of putting it in, I think I would keep the intro as a separate sequence. This allows you to play the second sequence without the intro if you choose. IMHO, it is better to keep things small, then integrate them in the show builder as you desire.Just a suggestion.Cray
Terry Hurrle Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Thank you for the reply. I was thinking that after I posted the question.
George Simmons Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Terry,If you're okay with a potential lag between the end of the intro and the beginning of the sequence, then I second Cray's suggestion. If, on the other hand, you want an immediate bang-bang type of transition from one to the other you'll need to make it all one sequence.

Do them separately and then copy/paste both into one sequence (the the merged song too) and save that as a new file name. That way you can always change it down the road if needed.

And Geroge is right -- if Terry wants the intro to lead right into the sequence without lag, it becomes a necessary part of the sequence.Cray
Terry Hurrle Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 I tried to do this but it play either one song or the other. I could copy paste both into one sequence but could not get one song to play and then the other when the main show started. Any help on how to do this?
Papa-LF Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Terry,If I read your thread right you want a sequence or song or voice intro to come on first thing when your show starts? And you only want it to run at that startup time.. If i am correct then the following will help you. If i am not correct then disregard what i am about to share, and please tell me nicely that I goofed...To do an introduction at the start of your show, In the LOR Show Editor click on the "Startup" tab, choose your sequence and "Save" your work. Now - remember when you create your "playlist" for the rest of the show (whether they are Animation or Musical its the same), this is saved under the same "Show" name. Two other pieces of the "Show Editor" that many folks are not using much is the "Background" and "Shutdown" pieces in a show. I have certain things in my show such as the "Tune-To Sign" and some of my small trees that I either turn on or dim for the entire show. Whatever you set in the background sequence will stay at those levels through out the entire show - even between songs - unless you change those settings in one of your sequences. Example - a sequence with no music thats only 1 second long turns the lights on my tune to sign to 80%, and lights a C7 bulb that is in front of the post light in my front yard (turns off the post light for the entire show by shining on the photo cell)... In all the other sequences in the show these two channels are not touched - ever. So you see I set those in the "Background" tab and then don't worry about them till the show has ended when they all turn off, then my daytime sequence kicks in 10 minutes after the show goes off, and we are good for the night. Now Shutdown is where you do your thank you and good night sequence, and since you would only run that once - Dan and his team have created this part of the software just for that purpose.Hope this helps.
Terry Hurrle Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 Papa,Yes that does help. I have been giving some thought to where to put a voice over and how many times to run one in a show. Do you use them? Every bit of help I get I save. I appreciate the help and ideas from all the experienced people out there. First year with this hobby and am having both fun:P and frustration :X with it.Terry

To change it up, I created my show list twice, but used a different humor voiceover during each run. That way, people heard a different humor piece it they watched back to back shows. Here is an example show order of what I mean:Show Opening VoiceoverSong 1Song 2Humor Voiceover #1Song 3Song 4Show Opening VoiceoverSong 1Song 2Humor Voiceover #2Song 3Song 4So my show order list had each song on it twice. One of the mid-show voiceovers remained the same and one alternated. (I was running this on a mini-director, so it just played over and over.)

That way folks see the show, and most don't stay more than 10 - 15 minutes. I make an announcement that each day of the week has a slightly different show, "thanks again - tell your friends - come back often and see a different show". My voice overs are done by Kevin Dunn - The Demented Elf - and I insert one every few songs. You can do like Surfing4Dough suggested and mix things up - that works.BTW - don't get frustrated, just ask questions. Send me a personal message anytime - plus there are other forums - I am one of the moderators on "Synchronized Christmas Lights" http://www.synchronizedchristmaslights.com/forum/forum.php, its a smaller forum but lots of knowledge in the list of members. Would be happy to have you there if you wish.
