Mike Manzara Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Just got a great deal at Wal Mart in Canada, Woods 10 foot outdoor cord for $2.50 each with the good block end (gaskets where prongs go in). Just waiting for our local Supercenter to lower the price on block heater cords. Got them last year for $1.00 each and they will carry a full 15 amps.
PaulXmas Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Thanks for the tip!Little short but for $2.50 I could put a few together. What colour are they?
Mike Manzara Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Green. The length will be good for my property
PaulXmas Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Now if I can just figure out how to hind this thread from the members in my area until I get to my local Walmart!
Mike Manzara Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 I think our secret is safe as yhere is only one other user in Edmonton. Watch the Great Canadian Superstore or Loblaws for the block heater cords to go on Blow Out. Here in London, Ontario we do not have much need for block heaters.

There are still 25ft cords for $6:00 right now. Peavey Mart should be selling their Block Heater cords soon. I do not think the Ontario folks have a Peavey Mart, but Saskatchewan and Alberta do.I think I will check out Princes Auto because they have good prices on cords to, also good prices on Cat5 cable.I actually work building things for Walmart (contracting) so I get to see the sales. I will be going to Drayton Valley Friday so maybe I can buy cords then.I will post this info on the Canadian Christmas Forum.
Mike Manzara Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Where is the Canadian Christmas Forum located?
RaceMedic Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I picked up 3 cords tonight at Walmart ... 1 x 7' 1 x 10' and 1 x 14' ... $7.88Only had 1 left my at least it gives you a variety of lengths.Dave
Mike Manzara Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Wow, the Gods must be smiling on me today. Just got another 20 of the Woods 10 foot exterior cords at another Wal Mart in my city. Even if I bought SPT2 and the cheap ends they would be as cheap as $2.50 each. With a little creativity in my layout of the controllers I shouldn't need too many cords longer than 10 feet.
Lester Stone Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I know Iam not up in the Great North, but down here in the U.S. i have purchased several 40 foot green 16 guage extension cords at Lowes for 5.97.. Being my first year with LOR i was told to purchase several cords. I have bought about 30 so far. Wal Mart has 25 footers for 5.97 each
Mike Manzara Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Unfortunately we who live north of the 49th parallel do not get the deals that can be had in the US. When I factor in gas ($1.00 per liter, multiply by 3.9 for a US gallon) and the exchange rate on the Canadian dollar the prices are pretty reasonable considering the non-sale price was $5.00. Whenever I haed to the US I always llok for good bargains at Meijers, Wal Mart, Target etc. in Michigan. Thanks for the reply.
Guest Don Gillespie Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Cords, cords and more cords can never have enough I still make my own that way the lenghts are really good, but I always look for the store bought just in case there is a great deal.No time to think about that right now just having a cerveza on the deck in San Jose Del Cabo weather is hot hot hot and sunny trying to program is very hard to do I think there is a swimsuit compition down at the pool, must slip into my speedo and go watch LOL ha ha ha:dude::dude::dude: later
huskernut Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Anyone who lives in Menards land, they often have 20 foot 16 ga green cords on sale. Usually limit 3 or 4 and often like $1.99. (always after rebate which is in the form of a credit check ) Just watch the adds. I ended up with 50 + on the ground this my first year. I ordered 1000 ft zip cord this year to make some of my own but since I doubled channels this year I dont know how many I will buy. This week was the first time I had enough clear lawn to pick up the cords.
bwaldrep Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Ace hardware has 16/3 50 foot cords onsale for $4.99 until the end of the month. They are orange.Brent
Mike Manzara Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Well, it might just be a local thing. I think because these cords are gree they are considered Christmas stock. The white cords here are $4.50 for the same length. I have checked other Wal Marts in the city and they don't have them. Now if I could just Find LED's in Canada at this time of year.
