TJ Hvasta Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Looking at a lot of the videos LOR users have posted on YouTube of their yards, I'm struck by the best ones dont use the on-camera audio but somehow dub the original song into it.. How do you do yours? I have PowerDirector/Producer, 'came with the video camera.. I know how to manipulate video clips (cut/trim/fade/transition) but how do you dub a different audio track (one without passing cars/people talking) ??teege
Surfing4Dough Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Not sure if this is your software or not, but here are some useful tutorials for PowerDirector.http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/learning-center.htmlIf not, search the help in your software for "adding audio" or "audio track" or "import audio."Usually you can have a video track on the timeline as well as a audio track on the timeline. You just mute the video, and just utilize the sound from the audio track instead. When you create the final video, it merges the two.
wallleyes Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I have not done any videos as i am a newbie. If you go to audacity.com and download it.It is a free audio editing program that works great for audio. For video do a search and find....any video converter.Hope this is helpfull.
pdowns Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Take you video camera outside and be sure to record the display with the audio. Try to get the best audio possible, for instance by plugging a radio headset output in to an input on your camera. Try hard to avoid using the camera microphone. Now get out your favorite video editor. There are a few bazillion to choose from so I won't propose to tell you the best.In your video editor import a second audio track. That track will be the MP3 or wav file that you recorded over the air in the first step. (presuming you use FM) It's the MP3 or wav file you used in your LOR sequence.Display the waveforms of your two audio sources, the one you (poorly) recorded in step 1 and the file you imported. Nudge the imported one until it is synchronized with the poorly recorded audio. I presume the original audio you recorded was already synced with your music. This is not the time to fix that problem!Throw away (delete, mute, etc.) what you recorded with your camera.Works great.
TJ Hvasta Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Thanks, I have done lots of video editing, but havent had to fool with audio yet.. I'll try to import the same song file I used for the sequence and I guess slide it one way or the other to get it to sync (yes, it was before)

Mike Manzara Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I do mine a little differently. My show is broadcast on an FM radio channel so I just plug an audio cable into the camera and use a good FM poratble radio as yhe sound source
TJ Hvasta Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 The video editting (fades, wipes, etc)/clipping didnt require audio re-dubs, just video, so I had not a need to re-do audio.. I've got VAC the rest of the month so I'll do some playing with reworking my yard clips to redub the audio with the tracks I used in the original sequences and see how it turns out.. My camera (JVC flash-drive) came with PowerDVD's Director/Producer which is pretty easy to use.. Thanks for everyone's input!teege
