Terry Hurrle
Without dragging out 48 strings of lights how do most of you test a sequence to lights? I have thought about using night lights to plug into the pig tails. It would still cost $48.00 to do this. Any one do anything else or have any ideas? kzaas
If you are wanting to test your boards thats the way to go, but I do most of my sequencing on a laptop in various places at various times so lugging around all of that hardware would be very cumbersome.Another alternative is to use the built in LOR "Animator" window. You can add a picture of your house and get a basic idea of what it might look like during the season.Good luck!
PaulXmas
I use the built in LOR's animation most of the time.I did buy Holiday Lights which looks better but hard to use for short sections.Last summer I did want to see what the controllers looked like controlling lights so I used a 4X8 foot sheet of lattice and stung out lights outlining the house, windows and most of the other elements and had a very scaled down version of my front yard. Terry Hurrle
I am doing that with my sequencing but I am wanting to just do a test run in real time with lights. I guess the night light is the way to go. I will set up my arches in the back yard and test them once I am done with them. Once I am done sequencing I save and send all my files to a portable hard drive and then put them on my lap top for doing the shows. Thanks for the replyTerry
PaulXmas
When moving sequences to another computer make sure everything is in the same place...I have my sequences and audio files on D:LORI moved everything over to another computer and things didn't work because everything was pointing to C:|Program FilesLight-O-Rama (I think).Once I placed the files on the D: drive it worked.I am not addicted... George Simmons
PaulXmas wrote: I am not addicted...I'm not sure, but I think I object to the term "addicted". The part of my brain that isn't a slave to synchronized lights prefers a more satisfying term. Who among us wants to be stigmatized by a word like that just because we like having the coolest lights on the block? We're not compelled by forces beyond our control to slave for months just to put on a nightly performance for 4-5 weeks. Hah! Addicted - how absurd! Who says the gratification, acclaim, and notoriety that comes from literally stopping people in their tracks is a dependency? It's not like we're Trekkies or something parading around outside in a costume...I think a term like "dedicated" is far more dignified and much less polarizing. "Committed" all too easily lends itself to the obvious question of our sanity, so that one won't do. "Devoted" conjurs up religious connotations so we daren't go there. "Purposeful" or "resolute" sounds a bit too hoity-toity for me, and a lot of people don't even know what those words mean, so they're out of there on their ear. What else is left? Let's see one of you other inmates come up with something even better...

bisquit476
Yep, that's what I am, an "addicted" "devotee" who is "dedicated" to expanding my display although getting it all done by Thanksgiving leads me to believe that I am in "denial" of reality, but thanks for clearing that up folks. MikeA
I just built 4 2' long leaping arches. This weekend I will build a 2' tall mini (mega) tree. These will go in the corner of my basement. I will then use my video camera plugged into the TV in the living room so I can watch my lights from up stairs when I am programming them. All this and I have not even gotten my controllers yet.Is this the "addicted" you all speak of? Now if you had the arches and mini mega tree UPSTAIRS so you could view them directly, then there would be no question.
