Controller Placement

I understand that there is only 6 feet between the controller and the ribbon and that the controller is not waterproof. Can that possibly be correct? If so, how in the heck are you guys placing these controllers so that they can be used for building outlines, etc? Thanks!!

I would imagine that many of them are winding up in enclosures like the Primex P136 that the PC series controllers use. You would probably be able to fit several CCR controllers and power supplies in a P136 case. Or some of the smaller boxes from the broadband store, or others would work. The iDMX is not water resistant either, and both the one at the house, and at the city show live outside in P136 enclosures. Unfortunately with them, the case end bezels stick out far enough that I have to stack 2 command adhesive strips to stick them to the inside of the box.

I've been pretty impressed at how well I've been able to hide the primex boxes on the front of a building. On brick, I use suitable colored stone look spray paint, or on painted surfaces, just spray the enclosure a similar color, and it really works out surprisingly well.

The CCR controllers are in a nice extruded aluminum case, so you can double stick them to the inside of the case, or to each other to stack a few. The power supplies are typical plastic cased cord warts, which also can be double stick mounted to the case.
