Controllers

I am about to buy my first controllers. With money a little tight I am looking at a couple options. Soldering is out of the question. I looked at the PC-CTD16PC and PC-CTB16PC. What I would like to know is why with the options on both the one you assemble is higher priced. Is the heat sink the same one on both models? I priced the high power heat sink on on the kit you order and put together with the board already assembled. Both are 30 amp aren't they? Maybe I am missing something. I am sure one of the LOR people will be able to explain this.
Thanks

I am a little confused by your questions. I don't recognize the part number PC-CTD16PC, I did a search for it on the site and it turned up nothing, so would you mind verifying that number please?

All of the "PC" boards are max thirty amps if you have the high power heat sinks. I have five of the CTB16K boards with high power heat sinks and they max at forty amps.

Hope this helped a little.

Typo. The number is PC-CTB16PC This is the completed board and you choose options for heat sink. Does the high power heat sink max you to forty amps. If you go to the CTB16 page there are two at the top. One on the left is what I am looking at and adding options the total price is higher that the one on the left top that you just have to put the cords on. It maxes at 30 amps.

Hi Terry

This page is components

http://store.lightorama.com/ctkitaop.html

and this page is a complete kit

http://store.lightorama.com/ctkitcpa.html

both are diy kits

I agree with you that it appears the second choice is cheaper for the

same equipment ---- don't know why ---- I am not a diy'er so all I can do is

agree with you that the second choice appears to be cheaper

I am stumped too. Maybe Dan will chime in later.

Less paperwork and inventory pulling.

The complete kit Option #2 can be done on a assembly line and stocked that way ready to ship.

Option #1 has to have all options manually pulled and then boxed just for your order. Cost more money that way.

Been in manufacturing for many years.

Difference of $6.10

My first controllers were the PC-CTB16PC.
It is $205 and includes everything. You have to install the power cords but there is NO soldering.

From what I understand if you use the enclosure they (LOR) highly recommends the high power heat sinks.

Here is a link to the sale item you need. This will require an enclosure if it is going outside,(in a garage it is ok) then you will have to order the cords from the second link. These are the sale prices that do not start till 2/27 at 10PM. If I can help further please let me know.

Looking at the sale, and wanting to start out a system. What is the difference between the 16 channel controllers. Just their case (metal or plastic)? What would you guys recommend on a budget? Am I missing anything if I go cheaper?
