bulldogs92
Question for those of you that may have used these before:Does the Keptel CG-1000 hold the PC card with the high powered heat sinks installed? Wasn't sure if these would be deep enough with the heat sinks installed.http://www.yourbroadbandstore.com/product.php?pid=201838Just wondered if anyone has installed the boards in these with success. Thanks,Kenny
George Simmons
Hi Kenny,I've used the CG 2000 boxes and they're tight but the CBT16PC just fits. I have had to grind off the threads that extend beyond the nut on the bolts that hold the triacs to the heatsink though to get the door to close. Some people just reverse the direction of the bolt. Still others rotate the board 90 degrees.I haven't personally tried the CG 1000. Width seems okay and the length might be a tight fit but I think it's doable. But I'd be worried that the inside depth of 2.25 inches might not be deep enough. If you try them, let us know how they work.

It is a tight fit even with the 16 Dongles and 2 power cords. You will have to cut down the built in standoffs so thea they are even. I am thinking about cutting them all the way to the back of the box. Here is the box closed. Attached files

bulldogs92
Thanks for your replies and the pictures... I think I will go with a bigger box. I don't want to force the board in if it is that tight of a fit.Kenny
George Simmons
JL,Do you have any issues with the lid closing? It looks like pretty tight quarters in there. Did you have any problems with the male dongle connectors bending when you close the lid? I like the smaller size and the larger width of that box compared to the 2000 model, but am concerned about the depth. How about strain relief? Any room for that? Any room for that?No problems with the power connectors, but the grounds are a little cramped. Strain relief I am using black tie wraps, one on top and one on the bottom. You might have to ream out the holes to put in the clamping reliefs. The depth is about a half and inch for clearance to the top. Even more if you cut out the standoffs that are molded into the case. As for the lid closing I would suggest using an end of a coax cable to secure the door as the clip latch does not catch very well even with nothing in the box.
