How about a listing from LOR with an update status on the various in-work products/projects that LOR has mentioned over the past couple years. Things that come to mind are the iDMX1000 upgrade, XMAS Light, color picker, LOR controlled fountain pumps, Chime-O-Matic. Don't even need specific dates, but would be nice to know the status such as "forget it, not doing it; 2011 or later; sometime late this year; etc."

I'm sure there are others that were mentioned over the past couple years, but these are the ones that come to my mind at the moment. Anyone else remember others that have been mentioned in the past?

Although it might be "nice to know" it doesn't seem prudent for Dan & Company to reveal to their competition what's coming unless release is imminent (like within 30 days).

Just my two cents.

I talked to a few people here at LOR after I first saw his post to get input before I replied. Just now I read the other replies (including Jeff's)... After reading Jeff's post I decided I should at least let people know that yes, the LOR team can walk on water! (of course it is -10F and the lake is frozen but what the heck:))

I have a problem. I get excited about new things we are working on and I just want to talk to people about. I get overly optimistic about the amount of work involved and get people working on too many different things at once. In the past, I did not let the people who were actually do the work, provide the proper input required to guarantee it got done correctly an predictably.

I am not going to talk about new things at this time. We are still coming down from the holiday rush and are now planning for this year. I have been constrained by others in the company and that is really a good thing for everyone. When a particular project gets to a state that we as a team are comfortable of a date then I will let people know.

Well, it's only supposed to get up to 68 here today and there is no water to walk on. I think we only got about 4 inches of rain total, last year. Anyway, didn't mean to ask for any trade secrets or give the competition an edge. Was just curious about things mentioned over the past couple years in the forum. I, too, learned my lessons the hard way as far as planning my display based on future releases. I now tend to wait until the product is shipped and see what others say about the ease of use, etc. (Lesson learned with Firefly). Was tempted on the CCR and the servo dog, but glad I waited now. Also, decided to give myself a cutoff date of July to incorporate new things into my display.

Your question was totally reasonable. One of my goals this year is to reset the perception (rightfully deserved!) that LOR misses dates when delivering new software and hardware. We have a good reputation with when it comes to quality for our software and hardware and we have a good customer support track record. We hope to make improvements in our weaker areas.

That statement there is brillient! It really should be adopted by the entire community as an unwritten law. But alas, we always find something new at the last minute and try to get it going in time. Sometimes with excellent results, other times not so good... Necessity is the mother......

I think this past season was the first relaxed one I had. First year, I was new to LOR; then there was fear of LOR II when it was released so close to the display season; last year was the FireFly episode which pushed me off the cliff trying to sequence it and the problems with the pixels - not to mention incorporating dmx for the first time. This past season, I scaled way back on my display, used a more powerful computer (although still an old one by today's standards), used multiple networks and everything ran flawlessly. Only put up 24 strands of lights - all on one mega tree and used seven swags on the eaves of the house. Everything else already had lights on them like the mini trees, etc. Didn't incorporate any voiceovers this year, just ran five songs repeatedly. This is the first year I had people come up and tell me how they enjoyed the show and thanked my wife and I. Most had been coming every year. Even got an anonymous Christmas card from someone in Canada thanking us for the display. Last year's show had about 100,000 lights; this year, maybe 10,000. If I would have tried to use the CCR or servo dog this late in the year, I probably wouldn't be doing a show next year! Chomping at the bit now, to get started on the 2010 show. May experiment with the servo dog on the animatronics this year, although I have dmx control of them and used VSA so far. Probably won't mess with CCR until there is a color picker available - again, based on past Firefly experiences. Time will tell. The key is to have a cutoff date to incorporate new items and STICK to it! Lesson learned the HARD WAY.

It's not worth it or worth mentioning, in my opion LOR is the best deal and to top it off, they're friendly and easy to work with. OK..back to watching all those poor saps on the lake ice fishing in -10F weather.
