jldavis1969 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I'm in the process of removing bulbs from multi colored strings to make as many strings of solid color.Anyone do this?I'm doing it as i have been unable to find solid color strings of Red and Green.
-klb- Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I know that it has been done by some in the past. Thankfully, this year, I am sitting on enough stock to hold me for a while. I did stock up on multi last year, as there was a ton of it left. Some of it has gone into the lawn grid this year, and will go into a low arched fence around the yard next year. I have also seen multi used as an additional "color" with very good effect.
smeade67 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I did some a few years ago. Had 35 count multi minis for bushes, but wanted 35 count single colors so I could change the color of the bushes. VERY time consuming, but that was my only option at the time.
cmoore60 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Been there and done that, like 4 years ago. Purchased 150 sets of multi to get 30 sets of each color. That year we had problems finding solid colors, for the colors we needed. All I can say is LIGHT KEEPER PRO!Chuck
shfr26 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I did this with c-7 this year since almost everything I had was multi, Not too bad, but I don't know about mini's. With my old eyes and short term memory loss, would probably end up with several strings of multi's after several hours of work!!
TGabriel Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I'm doing that now with M5 LED. Could not find green, so I got multi to make the 3 string of 60 count green LEDs.Just get a good drink and start pulling and pushing and testing as you go.Thomas
cmoore60 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Thomas,I wish you success with doing this with LED. In the incadescent light all bulbs are the same voltage. In LED lights the different colors have slightly different voltages. It has been my understanding that the manufactures design the power in the multicolor LED for a certain number of each color.I hope this works for you.Chuck
TGabriel Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Thank Chuck I didn't know that about the different in voltage, but still going to give it a try.
