George Simmons
I have one controller (16CBTPC) which has 8 channels not responding. Channels 1-4 and channels 8-11 are not doing anything. 1-4 have 5 100ct minis on each of them and 8-11 have 1 100ct set of minis on each channel. The other channels in this controller are all fine. Everything has been fine all season until tonight. Nothing has changed in the display or with the weather. The only thing different is that we had a HD cable box installed today. I've even unplugged that to no avail. I hear a high-pitched whine in the FM broadcast which is also new and hasn't gone away with the unplugging of the cable box. Any ideas anyone? ItsMeBobO
Sorry you are debugging in the dark. Does the whine go away when you unplug the controller?
-klb-
I have not looked at the traces on the board, but I would expect that those are driven by the same 4 microcontroller lines, just buffered and separated on the two sides by the two latches. Sounds sort of like the microcontroller has problems...If you haven't reset the controller, give that a try, then the next step is probably contacting LOR support. George Simmons
Not only am I trying to debug in the dark but I've got a street full out there and I've already shut the show down once and Im not going to shut it down again unless the problem spreads. Fortunately, not too many people who haven't been here before would figure out that those poles are supposed to light all the way to the ground, I hope. Thanks for the help. I'll check it out as soon as the street is clear.
Tim Fischer
Have you tried doing a reset on the controller?
George Simmons
I'll do the reset tomorrow when I can see what I'm doing and I'll post my results to let everyone who's interested know. Thanks.
Tim Fischer
Whoops, didn't see that at the end of klb's post I even searched for the word 'reset' on the page... silly browsers!
Tim Fischer
As long as I'm rambling, it would be nice to have a 'reset' command added to the protocol, so you could do a remote reset over the comm lines. Of course it might not work if the processor was totally hung up and not accepting comm, but in cases like this, it would be a lot more convenient...
