I paniced,,, what would you have done?

I have been debating whether I can take my display to LED, but it's just too soon for me. It would be over $9000 even at CDI preseason sale prices. So, a couple more years of minis for me.

I got a tip about a Walmart in a neighboring city that still had stock on solid color minis, so I cleaned them out. This is the first time I have ever paid full price for lights, but with the state of things this year, I was scared to push my luck and wait for Saturday. I was in a must have situation for next year and would be really up a creek if they were gone. Still, at $1.84 each that's half price at a lot of other stores. What would you have done? I was just scared to gamble...

I think I would have been doing the same thing. I haven't seen anything like that many standard 100 count strings anywhere around here though..

If I could find gold minis for $1.87 I'd buy all I could afford! :)

That's the color I am still looking for. My local WalMart has several cases of 'amber' left but it isn't gold. Frankly, it looks to be a quite hideous color.

Walgreens has their 100 mini's , multi and white for $1.99. They use .25 amps not .40 like others. They have less now than they did 20 minutes ago!! Still quite a lot left.

I would have done the same thing. The ROI for LEDs isn't justified to make a change. I too dislike the look of LEDs compared to a $1.94, 100 set of minis.

I'm waiting too, just found out from a local Home Depot that they are starting the 50% off sale tomorrow, Target is already running at 30% off till 12/25 then who knows what % off will be. BTW Two of my local Target's have lots of lights left Incan's and LED. Lowe's I count them out of the race as they are almost out of lights here.

Waiting. Not that many big displays around here in comparision to other areas. Plus the walmart's that I visit aren't in big areas either so I am hoping they will have extra this year. If not it's ok b/c I got a lot last year and didn't use most of them this year. So I may be ok for next year anyway.

My biggest problem is the amount left in the stores and the "competition" around here with guys that do this hobby.

That was basically my problem. This was literally the only store in four cities I found with any stock. I run into the same people every Dec 26th morning and I really thought there was no way these would make it to Saturday.

I am still restless about the whole thing... never paid full price before.. but was really backed into a corner so to speak.

In the Lansing, MI area, we are completely cleaned out and have no chance of getting any Mini's on sale. For next year I am thinking of talking to the Store Manager at Menards about making a "special order" of 30,000 at a discounted price.

Well... for what it's worth... The two closest Wal-Marts in my area (SE Kansas) both have fairly deep (for this area) looking stocks of both lights and LEDs still on the shelf.

'Course, they have not budged a cent on the prices, even this late in the season for reasons unknown, aside from a 'sneak' sale about a month ago where they dropped the price of C9 and C7 LEDs to the same price as the incandescent for 2-3 days.

Aside from that... Bupkis! And they're at $2.18 (I think it is) on the mini 100's

Since the blue flake off so easy, I wonder how hard it'll be to get the rest of the blue off so they can be used to wrap up some more arches?!?

Jeff

I'd try scotch brite pads.. Fold around the bulb, and give it a twist.. If that doesn't do it effectively, I'm not sure a better way could be found...

Just found 46 boxes of Blue 100ct minis at a Wal-Mart... Hidden behind a bunch of trees... I'll bet the person who stashed 'em don't like me right now...

Let's hope no one finds my stash of green and clear before Saturday 6am... lol

Wow, and I thought I bought a lot from Walmart. I only bought 36 sets of those exact same lights. then I turned around and bought another 16 sets of LED lights from Menards the other day.

At two different Walmart's no lights HD and Lowes same. A drug store still has 100 clear and multi for $1.99. Lots left and I just got 3600 the other day. But Saturday early I will be there to get the rest I hope! So kinda waiting.
