DC-MP3 not working for my sequences

I emailed this to support, but wanted to post it here in case anyone had some insight in the meantime. I'll share what I find out for future reference.

I used my DC-MP3 for Halloween very successfully. However, I haven't been able to get it to work properly for Christmas.

I have 15 sequences, 8 of which are very short intros to the songs. When I run them from the computer, it works fine. But when I write them to the SD card, either from the Hardware Utility or the Simple Show Builder, it doesn't work. However, I can put one of the pre-programmed songs or animations on the card, and it works fine. I've even tried putting my sequences on one at a time, and no go.

The DC-MP3 starts up fine with the 4 sets of flashes. When I put the card in, the C & R lights flash twice (slowly), then the E light flashes very quickly. It goes through this 4 times and then there is a very fast succession of flashes and then it starts over. Once in a while it will jump ahead 7 sequences and play the Carol of the Bells from you guys, that I have adapted.

Don't know how to fix this. I have a Lexar 512 and a Canon 32 SD card, both of which worked fine for Halloween. And like I said, they work with the pre-programmed sequences as far as I can tell...I have not tried them all.

If you've tried putting a single sequence on the card and it doesn't work, I would check the audio file - mp3, 128kbps, fixed bit rate.

Or try saving your existing sequence to another name and then apply the audio file from another sequence that works. This would at least verify that it is not the audio file (even thought the sequence will look pretty strange to the music ;))

I have had strange problems using other brands of SD cards, but the Lexar seems to work okay.

Yes, I've checked all that. I also saved a sequence to another name and it still didn't work. I assume that running the sequences from the computer is different...ie., if the file types were wrong for the DC-MP3 they might still work using the computer? The show runs fine from the computer.

I think that the audio file would be the only possible file that works on the computer, but not on the Director. Did you try to replace your audio with another that you know works - but using your sequence?
