jim6918
I happened to glance out my living room window tonight and saw three, count 'em three vans from a local nursing home parked in front of my house. That really hit me; all the work, time and money. It's nothing compared to the enjoyment those folks got tonight. Wow, what a good feeling. Just thought I would share. Gary Levelius
Jim, I know exactly how you feel. I have a small (about a hundred feet square) section of the local fairgrounds display that I do. I just love seeing peole stop and watch and it's even better when they pull out of line into a small parking area and just sit there. If I happen to be there, I'll even get out and talk to some of them. Makes all the work that much more worthwhile -Gary-
bhays
We get quite a number of nursing home buses as well. It is a great feeling and I always make sure to go on the buses and hand out candy canes...That is why we do it. I don't have any kids, so I think it's nice that I can use some of the time I have due to that fact to bring some joy to the kids that others with less time and resources have... and also the elderly.. it's so nice for them. bhays
Yeah, they love it. I live in a small town and they always want to know what my name is, etc. it's all about who is related to who, etc. hehe
Guest Don Gillespie
Dito I do the same thing I think the best part is when you see their eyes light up when you give them the candy cane some of the seniors are all by them selves its sad to see that so the joy that we can bring to them for a short period of time makes it all worth it. they really get excited when Santa gets on the bus We have had the seniors coming to our house for a number of years but this year should be really special as they get to see Light O Rama for the first time at our house, I can hardly wait for 7 oclock to roll around tonight.A big congratulations to all those that greet all the people kind of makes everybody feel special even it is for just a short time

lleibeck
We hand out candy canes to all the kids that come by, but the other night when I was walking out and had a little one ask me if I knew Santa? All the aches and pains of setting the display we gone. It made all the time and money seem distant.LeePS. The answer to his question. Yes I do know Santa
Steven
We rarely hang out in front of our house in December, and the living room window doesn't face the street so it's hard to tell how many people see my display. So this year I had The Demented Elf record a bunch of voiceovers that play between some of the songs and direct visitors to leave their opinion on our web site.So far, I have 16, including one from last year who found our site another way. Here's the feedback. friskybri
I was working on my Marty fan for the dec 24th fireworks/light show. I opened the garage to let the fumes out from he paint. Few minutes later there were 8 cars out there and some women came up and gave me a huge. She said she will be back next year and her grand kids love the display. She handed me money but I refused so she threw it on the counter. This is my first year and it was worth it. I hope the disney night goes well. right now its going to rain. I hope for a miracle. I guess I will have to have a back up day.
Guest Don Gillespie
As my show ended last night just before I retired to bed I noticed a small group of people walking towards my house, being curious I had to keep watch I thought they might be there to steal some thing, was I ever wrong they continued up my driveway and put something in the mail box of course when they left I retrieved the mail and to my suprise the card they left me was very heart warming and brought a tear to my eyes, this is why we do this to please the people who get to enjoy our show and forget about life for a while. the card in a nut shell said that this would be the last year that their father will be alive, as he was diagnosed with cancer and it was his idea to come to our house to see the light display for one last time, do I keep on putting up lights you betcha after that letter I have no plans on stopping. merry christmas
