sjmiller
I have a CTB08 as part of my display, it's been working fine until today. Doing a test before showtime I noticed 8 channels of my display were down. The status light was solid on, I disabled shows and started the hardware utility, it found my 4 CTB16's not the CTB08. I pulled the CTB08 and brought it inside and connected it to the 485 adapter, unit still not found. I reset the two chips in sockets, no help...The status LED blinks with no connection, goes solid as soon as I hook up the cat5 cable.Any help would be appreciated!Steve

Tim Fischer
This can almost always be fixed with the following procedure:1) Connect ONLY the offending CTB-08 to your computer2) Go to the Hardware Utility, and under change unit id, select "Any Unit" for the prior number, and the desired number for the new number. Ignore any warnings you get while setting the unit ID.Now refresh, and chances are you'll se the unit and be able to control it properly.
sjmiller
Thanks Tim - Worked like a charm! Any idea why that would happen?Steve

Not sure why, but fortunately doesn't happen very often for me (it used to happen much more frequently due to line noise like plugging in a comm cable, but LOR changed the protocol and firmware to fix it)
kg6aaw
Wow, thanks so much Tim. This also fix my problem. I was unable to see a used controller I bought. It was hooked by its self to the RS485 adapter, I tried the removing the jumper and nothing worked.I then read your post and I set the setting of the old unit id to the setting called "Any Unit" and I set the new unit id to the value I wanted which was "06". I clicked "Change Unit Id" and my problem was resolved!! I had firmware 4.02 installed on my CTB16PC controller and now I have upgraded to 4.32. All is work great thanks to you!!!!
