Autoconfigure does not find comm port

Try assigning a comm port manually. It has be less than 17 but to not to include 17. I would go into your hardware manager in the windows control panel. Look at the serial ports already assigned to the laptop. And then assign one that is still available.
I believe in the manual that they said that it is possible that your computer may not be able to auto config a port.

If your running Windows XP or Vista make sure in the control panel / system / hardware / device manager/ports - should list in your communications ports that the port is visible. If not, reboot and go into your bios and verify that your ports are turned on. After the reboot, again check your control panel. One thought, if you have a modem installed, it may be taking up your COM port, as many motherboards only have one. If you do and you don't use it, disable or uninstall/remove it. (If you need the modem, your kind of stuck looking at the next option below.)

If this still doesn't work, purchase a USB to serial adapter. Make sure you install the proper drivers, and you should be golden. Dont be surprised if it gives you a COM port of something like 13.

Hope this helps.

Harold,

Help us a bit more. What adapter are you using from LOR? Did this ever work? If you are using one of the usb485 adapter, did you load the drivers?

As much information as possible will be helpful.

Chuck
