2009 Lakeside Light Show

Hello,

Thought I would share our website and videos of our 2009 light show. This is our first year in the city park!

My favorite parts are toward the end of Hot Chocolate and toward the end of Wizards (pretty intense, but not just blinky).

Enjoy!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The grid is about 10ft H by 40 ft W. Each small section is 3ft. I think it is 3 or 4 inch, gray PVC - very heavy.

Each complete vertical section (14 of them) uses 6 channels. Each complete horizontal section (4 of them) uses 13 channels.

Should have made it a little longer as during the end of the show we display "Happy" and then "Holiday" - can't fit "Holidays". We built it first and then thought about what we could do with it after - and actually displaying the letters was an idea later during the programming.

Danr,

That was amazing! Absolutely amazing. You did an amazing job and it must be enjoyed but, many many people every night. I love every aspect of it!!! Very cool. I can't imagine how long it took you to sequence!!!!

Merry Christmas!

Dan,

What a fantastic job not only this year which is unbelievable but even the previous years are great too!

Watching the growth since 2006 was something else.

You really need to do some tutorials on LOR programming.

Again outstanding!

Dan,

Your display is nothing short of amazing! Just wondering how many lights are on each vertical and horizontal piece of the grid? Also, how did you secure each pipe to the fittings? I can also imagine the whole grid was guy-wired in place too :)

Gary,

Each grid section has 300 lights on it. A vertical section is two channels, so each channel has 150 lights. A horizontal section is one channel and has 300 lights.

PVC glue and 4-way couplers kept small sections together. When it was on the ground ready to be raised, we assembled the smaller sections using PVC couplers and screws. It took about 12 people to raise it up all at one time. And there are guy wires keeping it straight along with 7ft (or maybe it was 9ft) metal stakes pounded in the ground behind every other vertical section.
